Haf X Question - CPU backplate cutout

I am leaning towards getting the Nvidia Haf X model ( refurb) at your store. I've been doing some research on this ( still undecided between this model and the Haf 932 advance) and noticed several people say that the Sandy Bridge Mobo's are not compatible with backplate hole for easy access. Is this true?

I have a Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 Mobo that I just bought and I wanted to put this in a new case. I'm hoping I get good news on this being I've made up my mind on a Haf. If for some reason I get the dreaded news, what cases are Sandy Bridge compatible?

Hi,

The Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 is ATX compatible. I believe it should fit onto both the HAF 932 Advanced and Nvidia HAF X as they are both ATX compatible. See specs for your reference.

To clarify, the motherboard is compatible, but the access hole may not line up because there is no standard on that location of the cpu socket.

That is true My AsRock P67 and Asus Z68 boards do not allign up with the current CPU cutout on the HAF-X. I used a Dremel to create my own. :-)

The HAF-X is a truly great case though.

Thank for specifying and confirming this situation. I was hoping this would not be the case ( no pun intended).

Does the haf 932 advanced have the same cutout dimensions as the haf X?

basically, the cutout, aside from being being a full tower was the reason I wanted to go in this direction.

Agreed the CM Storm Trooper has the correct cutout for P67 and Z68. Not tested with 79 though...
