i just found a solution for Leopard 10.5.2

you have to change only /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext

with one's from MacOSX Update Combo dmg (extract IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext with Pacifist)

do from terminal:
sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext

clean cache and reboot.

this is a temporary fix, until apple or cm release an update

;)

Another one with the same problem here.

I had a crack at your suggested method grifis, but failed.

You say to take the IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext file from the mac os x update combo.dmg, I assume this is the 10.5.2 update yes?
The next bit we have to do from the terminal, can you explain what this does? Also what's the best way to clean the cache?

Bit of a *nix noob, so excuse the dummy questions. :)

sorry, i forgot to write that the working IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext is from 10.4.9 Combo update (yes, from tiger!). Apple changed something with newer release.
Code: Select all
sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext

with this command, you change the permission of kext so it can be loaded at system startup.

for cache cleaning you can use Onyx (leopard version)

There seem to be Leopard drivers available for the X-Craft 250 now: http://www.coolermaster.com/support/download-2.php?did=5496

Unfortunately still nothing for us Tiger users.

Hey everyone!

It seems everyone's having problems with the updated drivers from CoolerMaster, but the problem is just that they aren't being loaded. If done manually, it works for some awkward reason. Bring up Terminal and type the following:

sudo kextload -b com.apple.iokit.IOUSBMassStorageClass

It should load correctly after you type your user's password. Then you can use the enclosures normally (mine is X-310, but it should work with the other ones as well).

This command needs to be entered after every reboot, but it shouldn't be hard to automate this (don't ask me how :?).

Good luck!

PS. CoolerMaster, get a grip on yourselves and fix this.
